The Lemon-Aid Project

Lemon-Aid was born after an unexpected visit to Swanthana Orphanage in Bangalore, India, where nearly 40 abandoned girls with neurological and physical disabilities were cared for. The children lived with conditions ranging from cerebral palsy and hydrocephaly to Down syndrome and quadriplegia. Many had been found abandoned at railway stations and bus stops, rescued by local police.

Back in the U.S., we could not stop thinking of our experience. As best friends and roommates who loved cooking and baking together, we realized we could channel that passion into something greater. The simple, universal idea of a lemonade stand became our way to raise funds for abandoned children with disabilities in orphanages worldwide.

Through Lemon-Aid, we aim to create programs that meet pressing needs: education, nutrition, and developmental resources that allow children to thrive. We are deeply grateful to the staff at Swanthana Orphanage for opening our eyes and for their dedication to children that society too often overlooks.
